Maiorem is built on a simple promise: the most personal things you write — your reflections and your confession notes — never leave your device, and are never read by anyone, including us.
This policy explains what information Maiorem ("the app," "we," "us") handles, why, and the choices you have. Maiorem is offered by Scriptum Sanctorum. If anything here is unclear, contact us at support@scriptumsanctorum.com.
What stays only on your device
The heart of Maiorem is private by construction. The following never leaves your phone, is never uploaded to any server, and is never sent to any analytics or advertising system:
- Your journal reflections and everything you write in the Examen;
- Your confession preparation notes, kept verbatim in your own words;
- The private wording of your own intentions.
When the app offers a fitting passage, saint, or psalm in response to what you wrote, that matching runs entirely on your device. Your words are never transmitted to perform it. Because nothing is uploaded, this content exists only on your device — the only way to move it to another device is the encrypted export you create yourself (see Your rights & choices).
Your account
Using the app requires an account, which lets your candles, intentions, and settings follow you to a new device and lets you take part in the prayer pool. To create and secure an account we handle:
- Your email address, if you sign in by email — used only to send you a one-time sign-in code and to identify your account. Sign-in codes are delivered by our email provider.
- Sign in with Apple / Google identifiers, if you choose those methods — we receive an account identifier (and, where you permit it, your email) to authenticate you. We do not receive your password.
- Account content you choose to sync: your candles, your intentions, and your app settings and profile (see below).
We do not use your account to read, upload, or analyze your reflections or confession notes — those remain on your device as described above.
The prayer pool
The prayer pool lets people pray for one another. It is designed to be anonymous:
- When you share an intention, only a single short line you select is shared — never the words you wrote privately. Optionally it carries a patron name (a pen name you choose) and a coarse region (such as your state or province). Both are optional; leave them blank to remain fully anonymous.
- When someone prays for an intention, an anonymized notification may be sent so the recipient knows a prayer was offered. It does not reveal who prayed.
- What you type to search the pool is matched on your device; only the resulting intention you act on is sent — never your search text.
Candles & photos
A candle you create for a departed loved one — their name, an optional photo, and an optional date — is stored with your account so it can follow you across devices. Candles are personal, not public: they are never shown to other users. Photos are stored privately and are accessible only through your authenticated account.
Subscriptions
Memberships are sold and billed only through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see or handle your card or payment details. To manage entitlements and restore purchases across your devices, purchase records (such as the product purchased and whether your membership is active, linked to your account identifier) are processed by our subscription provider. Payment itself is governed by Apple's or Google's terms.
Notifications
If you enable reminders or prayer notifications, your device is issued a push token so we can deliver them. Notifications are opt-in, contain no journal, confession, or intention text, and can be turned off at any time in the app or your device settings.
Diagnostics
To keep the app stable we may collect basic crash and error diagnostics. These never include anything you write — no reflections, confession notes, or intention text. We do not use advertising identifiers, third-party ad networks, or product-analytics tracking of your written content.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers strictly to run the app. Each processes only what it needs for its function:
- Supabase — hosts the account database and private file storage (candles, intentions, profile, settings). Data is hosted in Canada.
- Apple & Google — Sign in with Apple / Google, and App Store / Google Play billing.
- Our subscription provider — records purchase and entitlement status.
- Our email provider — delivers one-time sign-in codes.
- Our push and crash-diagnostics providers — deliver notifications and report crashes, as described above.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising.
Your rights & choices
- Export your private data. From Settings you can create an encrypted file of your reflections and confession notes, locked with a passphrase only you know. This is the only way that content ever leaves the device, and only you can open it.
- Delete your account. From Settings you can permanently delete your account. This erases your account and its synced data from our servers, and wipes the app's data from your device. It cannot be undone.
- Manage your subscription anytime through the App Store or Google Play.
- Turn off notifications anytime in the app or your device settings.
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information. Contact us at support@scriptumsanctorum.com and we will help.
Children
Maiorem is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above, and where appropriate we will note them in the app.
