Terms of Service

Effective August 5, 2026

Please read these terms before using Maiorem. By downloading or using the app, you agree to them.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Maiorem application ("the app"), offered by Scriptum Sanctorum ("we," "us"). If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. A tool for prayer, not the sacrament

Maiorem helps you pray, reflect, and prepare to bring things to confession. It is not the Sacrament of Reconciliation and does not replace it. The app does not hear confession, absolve sin, or act in the place of a priest or the Church. It does not provide spiritual direction, counseling, or medical, legal, or professional advice. For the sacraments and for spiritual guidance, see a priest.

2. Your account

An account is required to use the app. You agree to provide accurate information, to keep your sign-in method secure, and to be responsible for activity under your account. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to subscribe.

3. Your content is yours

Everything you write in the app — your reflections, confession notes, intentions, and candles — belongs to you. We do not claim ownership of it. As described in our Privacy Policy, your reflections and confession notes remain on your device; we cannot read them.

If you choose to share a line to the prayer pool, you grant us permission to display that line (and any pen name or region you attach) to other users for the purpose of communal prayer, consistent with the Privacy Policy.

4. Acceptable use

The prayer pool is for sincere prayer intentions. You agree not to submit content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, or otherwise abusive, and not to misuse, disrupt, reverse-engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the app or its systems. We may remove content or suspend access that violates these Terms.

5. Membership & billing

6. Content & intellectual property

Scripture in the app is drawn from public-domain translations. Prayers, saint biographies, and other library content are provided for personal devotional use. The app, its name, its design, and its original content are protected by intellectual-property laws and remain ours or our licensors'. You may not copy or redistribute them except as the app allows.

7. Availability & changes

We may update, change, or discontinue features of the app. We will make reasonable efforts to keep the app running, but we do not guarantee it will always be available or error-free.

8. Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors, or that any content is complete or accurate.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim.

10. Termination

You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or end your access if you materially violate these Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Massachusetts, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and any disputes will be resolved in the courts located there, unless applicable law provides otherwise.

12. Apple & Google

If you obtained the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, their terms also apply, and — where required — Apple or Google is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms with the right to enforce them. Apple and Google are not responsible for the app or for support of it.
